A young woman was found dead in her California apartment. There were traces of a powerful, deadly neurotoxin in her blood and an empty bottle of the poison was found on the bedside table beside her bed. She was found sprawled across her bed, nearby the bottle of poison. Beside her bed were a fully packed suitcase and plane ticket for a flight later in the day she died. The coroner ruled the death suicide, but one detective pointed out how this death had to have been murder. From what did he draw this conclusion?

The Neurotoxin was found in her blood and so naturally the death cannot be due to bottle of poison which goes only to the stomach.

Detective Brown reviewed the information they had on the case so far. A lady was found shot and they already had a list of suspects - John, Mark, Sarah, Henry, and Carol. Plus, there were five notes that were found that were from the killer.

The first was found in a supply room.
The second was found in an art studio.
The third was in a restroom.
The fourth in an animal shelter, and
The fifth at the harbor.

All of the notes read the same thing, "The clues are where you find the notes." Yet, nothing was found at anyplace the notes were.

Taking one more look at all the clues, Detective Brown immediately solved the case.

Detective Karamchand had been called to investigate the disappearance of a woman called Jaya Sharma.
He knocked on the door of the house she had been living in with her husband.
Parth Sharma answered. 'Thanks for coming, Detective. My wife went missing today. I noticed a few weird things around the house, but I left everything as it was for your arrival. Nobody else lives in the house.'
Karamchand was led to the dining room. 'Last time I saw Jaya, she was having breakfast at 7am in this room today, before I left for work. When I came home at 5pm today, the breakfast was still on the table. There it is.' He gestured towards the table, which had breakfast on it. 'The suspicious thing is, she never goes out for more than 5 hours at a time and she always lets me know. I am suspicious.'
As Karamchand walked towards the table, he noticed a scrumpled piece of paper on the floor. It didn't have anything written on it.
He accidentally knocked over a coffee cup on the dining table, spilling it on his hand. Fortunately, it had only scalded his hand slightly. 'Sorry!' He walked to the sink to rinse it.
'What a shame,' said Parth. 'Jaya doesn't get on very well without her coffee. It's a shame she didn't drink it. Personally, I hate coffee.'
In the sink was a Post-It with 'Go Inside' written on it. There was a long pink string tied between two cabinet handles at the very top of the kitchen. The window was open and a smashed bowl was on the windowsill.
'From this evidence, Parth, either you are faking the disappearance, or you are involved.'
How did he work it out?

Detective John G. Abergail was on break from his life-saving career. He was just about to rest on his newly furnished hammock when he got a call from his cousin, Laura Plimott.

"John, I know you are on break, and this may be kind of silly, but no one else will listen." Laura sped through her words. "Laura, pause. What's going on?"

"My son lost his mittens and he really wants to find them." Detective Abergail shook his head. "What's so special about them?"

"They were his father's." Laura's husband passed away years before, and he'd left his childhood mittens to their son, Chris. Detective Abergail sighed, scratched his forehead, and drove to Laura's house.

"Okay, Chris. I want you to tell me what happened." Chris, the 8 year old boy, whined and ran to his mom. "Chris, honey, tell your uncle John what happened." Chris nodded and skipped back to John.

"I got off the bus and went inside the school like every other day. I walked inside the classroom and up to my cubby. I took off my jacket, hat, and scarf and put it in the cubby. Then, I took my mittens off and placed them on top of my hat. At the end of the school day, I grabbed my jacket, scarf, and hat, forgetting that I put my mittens in there. Then, I went on the bus and remembered my mittens. I had to wait until the next day to look for them. That was today. So, today, I went inside the classroom and looked around my cubby. At the end of the day, the teacher let me look at the lost-and-found center. It wasn't there. Do you know what happened to my gloves?" Detective Abergail smiled. "I have a good feeling about where it is." He stood up, walked over to Laura, and laughed.

"Where does your son put his outerwear?"

Where was Chris's mittens and how did Detective Abergail know?
