Raining "For the next two days" means "3 days" if you include the day john was watching after midnight weather forecast......which means "72hrs......."

Now it can't rain "for 72hrs....."and then "in 72hrs" to be bright and sunny.....

According to the news......there will be a time which it will be raining, bright and sunny...........which is impossible.

john was watching news just after midnight, so after 72 hours it will be night time and not 'bright and sunny'

It is not "after 72hrs"..... it is "in 72hrs"
