What is the four-digit number in which the first digit is one third the second, the third is the sum of the first and second, and the last is three times the second?

posted Jan 12, 2015

first=f,second=s,third=T,Last=L
f=s/3
T=f+s
L=3s
since s is divisible by 3,so s can be 3,6,9
Taking s=3
f=1
T=3+1=4
L=3*3=9

so answer is 1349

Find a five-digit number in which the last number is the sum of the first, second, and third; the third is four less than the last; the fourth is two less than the last; and the first and fourth added are one less than the last. The last number is also three times the second.
