The king dies and two men, the true heir and an impostor, both claim to be his long-lost son. Both fit the description of the rightful heir: about the right age, height, coloring and general appearance.

Finally, one of the elders proposes a test to identify the true heir. One man agrees to the test while the other flatly re-fuses. The one who agreed is immediately sent on his way, and the one who re-fused is correctly identified as the rightful heir.

Can you figure out why?

It was blood test. One agreed to take it, one not (he was hemophiliac as his father).

Two men come before the king because one of their beloved pets has been claimed by the other. Both of these men claim that the same cow is theirs. The king declares that one of the men will get the cow and he will give the other man one of his cattle, just to be fair. He will decide which man gets which at random. One of the men thanks the king for his generosity but the other man does not accept the offer. One man leaves with the disputed cow.

Which man gets the cow?

Can you figure out how this can be true? In a bedroom the nearest lamp is 12 feet away. Alone in the room and with our using any special devices such as cords, pulleys, remotes,or "the clapper," a person can turn off the lamp and make it to the bed before the room is dark. How?

A man is on his death bed. He has two sons. All these years, he has treated them equally and has not put any sort of discrimination between them. Now, he owns a land which he wants to divide equally between his sons before he takes his final breath. The only problem is that the land is not in any symmetrical shape and thus can’t simply be divided into two equal halves.

Can you figure out a method to divide the land without going through all the extensive measurements such that both sons are happy with their share of land ?

I am the judge of both bitter defeat
And who may make claim to victory sweet

No matter what effort you may expend
Without me you will never reach the end

Defining a limit which yields results
Perhaps which a statistician consults

Without me you'd have no way of knowing
Whether to stop or to keep on going

What am I?
