Its tank holds 500 litres of water but has been leaking at a rate of 25 litres per hour throughout the journey.

The fire engine needs 497 litres of water to put out the fire.

Will it succeed?

Time to arrive: 7/42=1/6 hr
Leak rate within 1/6 hr: 25*1/6>4 liters
Remaining water in tank is less than 496 liters
Answer is negative

Time taken to reach = 60/42x7=10 MTs
Leakage during 10 MTs = 25/60x10= 4.1666
Water in the tank = 500-4.166=495.884
Requirements of water is 497
Hence not possible.
